Equal Measures – the non-profit dedicated to delivering equity, diversity & inclusion (EDI) across the drinks sector – has announced a special charity auction set to take place Tuesday 1 September.
The event will be hosted at new London Bridge cocktail bar Nancy’s and aims to raise “funds to support marginalised people working within the hospitality industry”, said the charity. Around 50 auction lots – ranging from £100 to £15,000 in value – will be bid upon, including rare and exclusive bottlings such as a GlenAllachie 1990.
Luxury experiences are also up for grabs among the auction lots such as a highland getaway with Ardnamurchan Distillery. Running alongside the ticketed, in-person event will be an online auction taking place on the Whisky.Auction website from 23 August to 1 September. The final auction lots will be bid on at the event.
The evening auction will be hosted by drinks consultant and presenter Jack Sotti. A rotating cast of leading bartenders – including Chelsie Bailey; Dre Masso; and Benedetta Paris – will be in charge of mixology on the night.
Executive director of Equal Measures UK Vicky Ilankovan (pictured) reflected: “This is a night that will showcase the very best of hospitality, raising funds to support those who have been marginalised within it.
“Our community has rallied together to make this a prolific occasion promising exceptional spirits, fantastic cocktails, and an experience that will live on in the memory far after the last lot has been sold and the last drink poured. We live and breathe hospitality, and we can certainly throw a party – particularly one for such a good cause!”
