Judging our Top 50 list of UK drinks wholesalers is both a fascinating and demanding task, not least because of the shear variety of shapes and sizes of well-run drinks suppliers that compete for share in this market.
Some in this list offer the most traditional of estates, some have specialisations that take them more off-piste, some have national reach while others are more regional. Then there are those with bricks and mortar retail, or wine bars, others yet that make their own wines and/or spirits, while others still are owned by wine estates. And there are those, of course, that boast a combination of some or many of these aspects.
This diversity, though, along with the professionalism and expertise on offer, is what helps to make the UK such a dynamic and diverse market for premium wines, spirits and beers. That, in turn, allows bars and restaurants, indies and multiples, to pick and choose from a seemingly endless possibility of supplies and their suppliers, bringing an unrivalled wealth of choice to the end consumer. And this is first and foremost what we look to celebrate with our Top 50 Wholesaler listing.
Our ranking, however, is an important part of this aim. Year on year it’s a dynamic list where, in response to our multi-faceted judging criteria, companies move up and down according to their recent performance and ongoing aims. Some are bedding in after a period of change, others riding a wave of dynamism, with our judges having to decide who sits where and justify why.
Here then, and with many congratulations to all who made the grade, is Harpers Top 50 Drinks Wholesalers 2026.
