Published:  23 July, 2008

Low alcohol wines proved particularly popular at this year's London International Wine Fair (LIWF).

Figures from TastingBuddy's eCatalogue "The List" compiled searches from 5,000 trade members and discovered a trend for lower-alcohol variants.

Some 35 per cent of searches were for wines under 12%ABVand 64 per cent of searches were for wines under 13%ABV.

Elsewhere, searches by colour showed a strong bias towards red, compared to their respective market shares.

Red wine was dominant, with 60 per cent of searches (market share is currently at 44 per cent), whilst white wines accounted for 32 per cent and ros, eight per cent.
