Published:  31 July, 2015

Premium tequila Herencia de Plata is set to return to the UK through an exclusive partnership with Meximport. Earlier this year, it was awarded a silver medal in the Tequila Masters 2015 competition.

Herencia de Plata is a 100% agave tequila available in three expressions - blanco, reposado and añejo - all of which are 38% abv.

It is produced by Tequilas del Señor, a fourth generation family-run business in Jalisco, Mexico, founded in 1943.

Meximport was founded by Katya Torres in 2014 with the aim of bringing authentic, high-quality Mexican food and drink to the UK retail sector.

Torres will be partnering with Eduardo Gomez Resendiz, creator of Tequila Fest UK, to raise Herencia de Plata's profile.

Herencia de Plata is the first tequila brand to be listed by Meximport.

The tequila was first produced in 1997 to commemorate the wedding of Juan Garcia, son of the of the company founder, Manuel Garcia. Loosely translated, its name means 'silver heritage',

Herencia de Plata was showcased at the British Library recently during an event dedicated to Mexican history, and the brand was also presented at the Boutique Bar show in Manchester.

Elizabeth II was served with Herencia de Plata during Mexican president Vicente Fox's state visit to the UK in 2002.

Herencia de Plata will be available at Tequila Fest Liverpool on 8, 9 August and Tequila Fest London 19, 20 September.
