Majestic to list exclusive Hardys range
Accolade Wines has announced Majestic is to list its award-winning Eileen Hardy Chardonnay from later this month as part of the Hardys Signature range, which will be exclusive to the retailer.
The listings are all part of Accolade’s plan to push its super-premium ranges, and reinforce the quality and value of its top-end wines.
Paul Schaafsma, Accolade Wines’ general manager for the UK and AMESCA, said: “This kind of link-up is a great opportunity to showcase the excellent quality of the wines that come from the Hardys stable. The Eileen Hardy Chardonnay is one of our icon wines and is well suited to the palates of the kind of discerning drinkers Majestic attracts.”
He added: “Our experiences show that there is demand at the higher end for Australian Chardonnay but with well integrated oak. These new listings in Majestic provide just that.”
Matt Pym, wine buyer at Majestic, said: “Top-notch Aussie Chardonnay is really getting our customers and staff excited again. While retaining the expected Australian ebullience of fruit, Eileen Hardy Chardonnay has real class and breeding, balance and length; typical of how sophisticated Australian Chardonnay has become.”
The Eileen Hardy label was launched in 1973 and was devised in honour of the matriarch of the winemaking family. The first in the Eileen Hardy range was a McLaren Vale Shiraz 1970 - the best red wine in the cellar at the time - and after her death in 1980 the best white wine from each vintage has been released under this label.
