Wine Car Boot launches second indie event.

The second Wine Car Boot is to be held in London next month in a bid to encourage visitors to “taste their way out of the supermarket”.

Organised by former fashion model, Ruth Spivey, who launched the first event on September 1, the aim is to bring alternative wine tasting from independent wine shops and the finest street food stalls to a covered car park in SE1.

The second event will include independent merchants such as: Roberson, Bottle Apostle and Planet of the Grapes and newcomers the Last Drop, The Good Wine Shop, The Sampler, Vinoteca, D Vine Cellars and Market Row Wines, with more to be announced.

Spivey said: “After the success of the first Wine Car boot, it’s great to be able to take it to a different part of London, have new shops involved and more people meeting their local indies.”

She added: “Having worked in an independent merchant, I know there are still plenty of people who don’t feel confident enough to go in and shop. So I’m taking the wine to them - in an unstuffy location, all together, all on one day, outside, with some decent food and a bit of music.”

After 10 years travelling the world as a fashion model, Spivey worked for the Michelin starred Arbutus and Wild Honey. She has also previously worked for the independent merchant Bottle Apostle, importer and supplier Decorum Vintners and as buyer for The Rushmore Group where she co-produced all the ‘Tweat Ups’ in 2012 with Jonathan Downey and organised the Chile Stand Off in March 2013.

Wine Car Boot takes place on November 16, 12-noon – 6pm at Arch E, Union Car Park, Great Suffolk Street, SE1 0UE.
