Palestinian importer Nabeeth unveils online shop

Nabeeth Wine & Spirits – the UK importer dedicated to showcasing the wine and drinks of Palestine – has launched an online shop. The business has established itself as a wholesale supplier but this move introduces a D2C channel for Nabeeth.

The company was founded last year by Palestinian chef and restauranteur Fadi Kattan alongside sommelier Anna Patrowicz with the goal of giving “Palestinian wine the place and visibility it deserves within the UK wine landscape, and to introduce drinkers to the diversity of wines being made across Palestine”, said Nabeeth.

Producers on the portfolio include Cremisan, Taybeh, Ashkar and Jascala. The wineries champion both indigenous grapes (such as Dabouki and Bitouni) and international varieties, with a new generation of winemakers emerging.

Kattan explained that “Palestinian wine tells a story that deserves to be tasted”.

“Behind every bottle are people, vineyards, landscapes and generations of knowledge. Nabeeth is about creating a space for those stories in the UK and allowing people to discover Palestine through what grows from its land,” he added.

The chef founded Notting Hill restaurant Akub in 2023 with co-founder Rasha Khouri.

Working alongside Kattan at both Akub and Nabeeth, Patrowicz believes there is “a real curiosity among wine drinkers today about places and varieties they have not encountered before”.

She continued: “Palestinian wines can surprise people. They have their own character and sense of place, and part of our work at Nabeeth is giving people the opportunity to approach them first and foremost as wines – to open a bottle, taste it and discover where it comes from.”

Nabeeth attended this year’s London Wine Fair where the UK trade (and Harpers) gained the opportunity to try wines which would have been new to many.

Bottle shops such as South London’s Wild & Lees are stockists of Nabeeth names including Cremisan and Taybeh, while the business also supplies London restaurants Poon’s, Clark’s and Brunswick House.

Harpers spoke to Patrowicz in the May issue of Harpers Wine & Spirit where she explored the wines and terroir of Palestine. She also detailed the extremely challenging circumstances wine producers in the West Bank face. Amid rising Israeli settler violence and the day-to-day obstacles of occupation, she said that “every bottle of wine we manage to import is very precious”.
