Eight producers introduced to Amathus agency portfolio

Wine and spirits merchant Amathus has added eight producers to its wine agency portfolio – ranging from a grower champagne to a Novia Scotia producer by way of a historic Lambrusco estate.

Closer to home, joining the portfolio is Tim Wildman MW’s Lark and Folly traditional method English sparkling project. Campagnia’s Tenuta Scuotto has been onboarded too, a project that works with indigenous Italian grapes including Aglianico, Fiano and Greco.

Lambrusco producer Ca’ De’ Medici is the other Italian addition seeing Amathus capitalise on the growing popularity (which Harpers has witnessed anecdotally) of the red sparkler.

Blomidon is a boutique producer hailing from Nova Scotia, producing sparkling wines, still Chardonnays and even wines from the hybrid Baco Noir grape. Another fizz producer now represented by Amathus is the Marne Valley’s Denis Salomon. The 5th generation grower champagne estate specialises in Pinot Meunier.

New wave co-op winery from the Douro Lavradores de Feitoria is also new proposition for the merchant’s agency arm. The project brings together 18 quintas from all three subregions of the famed valley.

Montilla producer Pérez Barquero is the latest Spanish offer from Amathus, offering Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez, as well as Vino de Pasto wines. The winery focuses exclusively on Pedro Ximénez grapes.

Reflecting on the new producers, head of wine at Amathus Jeremy Lithgow MW added: “We are so proud of these superb new additions to our diverse range of over 160 agency wineries from 27 countries.”

Amathus has also recently opened its first wine bar Cru 78 in Maida Vale, London, with plans for another in the City of London.

Amathus is also adding entry level listings from Puglia produced by Casa Maresi – a Vermentino and a Primitivo. Similar additions from Provence, Picpoul and Greece now feature on the portfolio too.

All the new wines can be tasted at Amathus’ Trade Portfolio Tasting taking place on 22 September at The Royal Society of Chemistry in Piccadilly, London.
