Leading Cavas and Proseccos compete for Xmas sparkling wine sales

Published:  06 November, 2015

Two leading producers of sparkling wine have announced new packaging in the run up to Christmas.

The Lunetta Prosecco brand has introduced a more premium bottle design, while Juvé and Camps is presenting its premium Reserva de la Familia Cava, in three different formats, each in a bespoke wooden case.

Lunetta, which is produced by Cavit, has grown 40% year on year in the UK since 2013. The UK is now its second largest market worldwide.

The new look emphasizes both the brand name and its new-moon emblem.

Lunetta is available to both the on- and off-trade through Boutinot.

Tony Brown MW, Italy buyer at Boutinot, said: "Cavit has been making top-quality Prosecco for over a decade and the new, premium label reflects the expertise that makes these wines stand out from the Prosecco crowd.

"Our customers tell us that Lunetta is a great trade up from entry-level Prosecco, while still meeting the competitive price point demanded by the consumer. It's one of Boutinot's top-ten best selling brands."

Lunetta's white and rosé styles are available in both 75cl and 20cl formats, at RRPs of £9.50 and £3.50 respectively.

The Juvé & Camps flagship Reserva de la Familia will be available in the standard 75-cl bottle, a 1.5-litre Magnum as well as a 3-litre Jeroboam.

Juvé & Camps has 271 hectares of land under vine, all of which is farmed organically.

Its wines are available in the UK through Ehrmanns.

Last year, UK sparkling wine sales were up £25.4 million in the six weeks to Christmas.

Champagne sales were down 8% in the same period, according to figures from IRI.
